Why the marks are small
A maker’s stamp, not a billboard.
Every piece carries the house-mark the way its own material takes one — blind-debossed into leather, branded into the foot of a board, glazed into stoneware near the ring, cast into iron, woven into a selvedge tag. You should have to look for it.
It is a merchant’s mark, which is the oldest kind there is: one struck shape that said whose crate it was, long before anyone thought to print a name across the front of a thing.
The buying rule
If it cannot be repaired, we do not stock it.
That rules out a great deal, and it is the reason the shelves are sixty products deep rather than six hundred. A handle that can be rehung, a blade that can be reground, a rug that can be rewoven.
